Bharata, born in Raghu race, having passed the night in that place on the banks of Ganga, rising at dawn, said to shatrughna as follows:
रात वहीं गंगा के किनारे बिताकर, भरत सवेरे उठकर शत्रुघ्न से यह बोले।
"O, Shatrughna! wake up! Why sleep longer/ Bring guha the king of Nishadhas quickly and be happy. Let him convey the army across the river."
हे शत्रुघ्न, उठो, क्यों सो रहे हो? निषादों के स्वामी गुह को शीघ्र ले आओ। तुम्हारा कल्याण हो, वे सेना को पार लगा देंगे।
Thus urged by Bhrata, his brother Shatrughna said, "I am not sleeping. Thinking of that Rama alone, I have been wakeful."
मैं जागता रहता हूँ, सोता नहीं, उसी प्रकार आर्य (श्रीराम) का विचार करता रहता हूँ। भाई शत्रुघ्न ने भी प्रेरित होकर ऐसा ही कहा।
While those two lions among men were talking themselves with each other thus, Guha came in time and with joined palms, addressed Bharata saying:
इस प्रकार आपस में बातें करते हुए नरसिंह और भरत के पास समय पर हाथ जोड़कर गुह आए और भरत से बोले।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 89 · v5
कच्चित् सुखम् नदी तीरे अवात्सीः काकुत्स्थ शर्वरीम् |
कच्चिच् च सह सैन्यस्य तव सर्वम् अनामयम् || २-८९-५
"O, Bhrata! Did you pass the night happily on the banks of the river? I hope all is well with your army."
हे काकुत्स्थ (राम), क्या आपने नदी तट पर सुखपूर्वक रात बिताई? और क्या आपकी सारी सेना कुशल मंगल से है?
Hearing those words of Guha spoken with affection, Bharata also in his devotion to Rama, replied as follows:
भरत ने गुह के स्नेहपूर्ण वचन सुनकर, राम के पीछे-पीछे यह वाक्य कहा।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 89 · v7
सुखा नः शर्वरी राजन् पूजिताः च अपि ते वयम् |
गन्गाम् तु नौभिर् बह्वीभिर् दाशाः सम्तारयन्तु नः || २-८९-७
"O, king! The night passed leasantly fo r us. We were treated hospitably by you. Let your fisher-men ferry us across Ganga River on your courtless boats."
हे राजन, हमारी रात सुखद हो और हम आपकी पूजा कर सकें। नावों से भरे हुए नाविक हमें गंगा पार कराएँ।
Hearing Bharata's command, Guha returned to the city in all haste and spoke to those multitude of his people (as follows):
तब भरत के आदेश को सुनकर गुह शीघ्रता से नगर में लौट आया और अपने बंधु-बांधवों से बोला।

उत्तिष्ठत प्रबुध्यध्वम् भद्रम् अस्तु हि वः सदा |
नावः समनुकर्षध्वम् तारयिष्याम वाहिनीम् || २-८९-९
"Rise, awake and may prosperity ever attend you! Duly haul the boats to the bank. Let us carry the army across the river."
उठो, जागो और सदा कल्याण प्राप्त करो। नाव को साथ ले चलो, हम इस धारा को पार करेंगे।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 89 · v10
ते तथा उक्ताः समुत्थाय त्वरिताः राज शासनात् |
पन्च नावाम् शतान्य् एव समानिन्युः समन्ततः || २-८९-१०
Rising immediately on hearing the command of their king, they quickly brought together five hundred boats from every quarter.
वे राजा के आदेश से तुरंत खड़े हो गए और चारों ओर से पाँच सौ नावों को ले आए।
Some excellent boats, possessing large bells were marked with Sawstika, well-kept together with appropriate sails and adorned with flags.
यहाँ श्लोक का सरल हिंदी अनुवाद दिया गया है: अन्य ध्वजाएँ, स्वस्तिक से युक्त, जानने योग्य हैं, जो बड़ी घंटियों को धारण करती हैं और सुंदर हैं। वे पताकाओं से सुशोभित हैं और हवा से अच्छी तरह संचालित होती हैं।
Then, Guha brought there one boat also adorned with Swastika, was covered with white canvas, re-echoing with acclamations and which was beautiful.
तब कल्याणकारी गुह ने, जो कि स्वस्तिक से युक्त, पांडु रंग के कंबल से ढकी हुई और नंदी के घोष से युक्त थी, उस नाव को प्रस्तुत किया।

ताम् आरुरोह भरतः शत्रुघ्नः च महा बलः |
कौसल्या च सुमित्रा च याः च अन्या राज योषितः || २-८९-१३
पुरोहितः च तत् पूर्वम् गुरवे ब्राह्मणाः च ये |
अनन्तरम् राज दाराः तथैव शकट आपणाः || २-८९-१४
Vasishta, the royal priest and whatever elderly Brahmanas were present there ascended the boats, even before Bharata, Shatrughna, Kausalya, Sumitra. Whatever royal women were present also took theri seats. Thereafter followed the king's wives a well as bullock- carts and provisions.
भरत और महाबली शत्रुघ्न उस पर चढ़े, साथ ही कौशल्या, सुमित्रा और अन्य राज रानियाँ भी। इसके पहले पुरोहित, गुरु और ब्राह्मण थे, और फिर राज-पत्नियां तथा गाड़ियां भी।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 89 · v14
आवासम् आदीपयताम् तीर्थम् च अप्य् अवगाहताम् |
भाण्डानि च आददानानाम् घोषः त्रिदिवम् अस्पृशत् || २-८९-१५
The sound of men setting fire to the huts, of those who were descending the steps leading to the boat and those who were transporting their effects touched the sky.
यहाँ श्लोक का सरल हिंदी अनुवाद दिया गया है: घर को रोशन किया जाए और पवित्र जल में स्नान किया जाए। सामान उठाते हुए, शोर स्वर्ग तक पहुँच गया।
Thos boats, adorned with flags, steered by fisher-men themselves ran speedily, duly carrying those passengers.
ध्वजाओं से युक्त वे नौकाएँ, जो स्वयं नाविकों द्वारा संचालित थीं, जब लोगों को ले जा रही थीं, तब वे शीघ्रता से आपस में टकरा गईं।
Some were filled with women. Some were loaded with horses and some of them ferried animals of draught of great value.
कुछ स्त्रियाँ पूर्ण रूप से सजी हुई थीं, कुछ घोड़ों पर सवार थीं। उनमें से कुछ वहाँ बहुत सारा धन ले जाने वाली गाड़ियों को खींच रही थीं।
Having reached the opposite shore, thsoe boats cleared those people and on the return journey, the kinsfolk of guha plied them as easily as toy- boats made of bamboo.
वे (नाविक) उस व्यक्ति को उस पार उतारकर लौट आए। नाविकों के बंधुओं द्वारा रंग-बिरंगे चित्र बनाए जाते हैं।
Goaded on by their mahouts, elephants adorned with their flags, swimming across the river, looked life winged mountains.
हाथी, जिन्हें सवारों ने प्रेरित किया, वे विजय के झंडों से सजे पर्वतों की तरह तैरते हुए चमक रहे थे।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 89 · v19
नावः च आरुरुहुः तु अन्ये प्लवैः तेरुः तथा अपरे |
अन्ये कुम्भ घटैः तेरुर् अन्ये तेरुः च बाहुभिः || २-८९-२०
Some ascended boats. Some others crossed the river by rafts in the same manner. Some others swam across with the help of big and small earthen vessels. The rest swam with arms.
कुछ लोग नावों पर चढ़ गए, तो कुछ अन्य छोटी नावों से पार हुए। कुछ लोग घड़ों से तैरकर पार हुए, और कुछ अपनी भुजाओं के बल से तैरकर पार हुए।
Having made to cross River Ganga by the fisher-men themselves, that holy army reached the magnificient woods of Prayaga at the hour of Maitra.
यह पवित्र गंगा नदी, जो दासों द्वारा पोषित है, स्वयं ही उत्तम प्रयाग वन में मित्र मुहूर्त में पहुंची।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 89 · v21
आश्वासयित्वा च चमूम् महात्मा |
निवेशयित्वा च यथा उपजोषम् |
द्रष्टुम् भरद्वाजम् ऋषि प्रवर्यम् |
ऋत्विग् वृतः सन् भरतः प्रतस्थे || २-८९-२२
The high-souled Bharata made the army to rest, by encamping it according to its inclination and set out along with the priests and king's counsellors to meet Bharadwaja, the foremost of sages.
भरत ने अपनी सेना को आश्वासन देकर और उन्हें यथास्थान स्थापित करके, ऋत्विज् के रूप में चुने जाने पर, श्रेष्ठ ऋषि भरद्वाज के दर्शन के लिए प्रस्थान किया।
Approaching the hermitage of that high-souled Brahmana and the family priest of gods, Bharata saw an extensive and enchanting grove with its leafy huts and tress the chief of ascatics.
एक ब्राह्मण के आश्रम में पहुँचकर, उस महात्मा और देवपुरोहित ने एक सुंदर कुटिया, वृक्षों के समूह और एक विशाल, रमणीय वन देखा।
